Did you know that you can now connect your DualShock 4 controller to your iPhone/iPad and play your PS4 games anywhere you have a WiFi connection, even if you are not at home?
The recent iOS update (iOS 13) allows you to connect your DualShock 4 controller via Bluetooth, simply by holding down the select and PlayStation buttons on your controller. This will enter the device into discovery mode, allowing your iPhone/iPad (or even an Android device) to find the controller and connect it wirelessly. This then gives you the ability to play your PS4 games on the go.
Here’s what else you’ll need to do. (Remember you will need an internet connection when you are out and about)
- First off, turn on your PlayStation 4 and go to Settings > Remote Play Settings and Add a Device.
- Next, download the Remote Play App on your device and launch it.
- Add a device and enter the code from the PS4, you should now be connected
- Remember to pair your DualShock 4
You should now be able to control your PS4 from your device.
This is an absolutely brilliant feature and one which has been around for some time, however, Sony doesn’t seem to shout about it enough, so we thought we would do it for them.
At a hotel with WiFi? You can use your mobile to turn on your PS4 and play some games. Fancy a quick game on your lunch break? Load up the Remote Play App and Go for it!
To make the experience even better we’ve decided to search Amazon for some great phone clamps to make your experience even better.
Here’s a few of the best from Amazon UK:
- PS4/PRO/SLIM Smart Clip – £6.99
Sony did make its own clamp at one point, but sadly these don’t seem to be manufactured currently, although we are sure PS5 will improve the quality of Remote Play even most, so perhaps Sony will begin to once again release its own mobile clamps.
Either way, we suggest you give Remote Play a try, even if it’s just while sitting on the couch at home because it really is a game-changer.
